We used Napoli as a base for doing day trips to Pompeii and Ercolano (Herculaneum), and white kind of dirty and sketchy in spots, it definitely is an interesting city to visit (and provides good color for comparison to other Italian cities).

Hotel Neapolis is in an excellent location, close the historical center on Naples.
